wel today i got everythin together an desided to make a start on sum custom door cards, i hav decided to go for the smal round components on the front but im smoothein the actual shit catcher away to giv it a different look

wel here are the pics up to now

Crap catcher cut away





Mounted standard speaker holders on top of door card an cut away the vents behind the speaker holder



Made MDF circle to bring pod further out an to let the speaker sit in comfy





Then the 1st layer of Fibreglass on

First advice to you, Make sure you have left movement room for your window winder handle to rotate past I did this and fucked everything up

they are looking mint matey, are you paintin them or trimming them up?

yes my winder only just goes past but im gettin leccy windows fitted soon :-) its not on in the pic but trust me its close!

Did you smooth that out completely before spraying ?

it had the usual process of fiberglass then filler.sanding etc. then this filler stuff was used (very sloopy, cant remember what u call it now) to get all the little blemishes out.

was then primed using highbuild, flatted down, painted and then laquered.

was a lengthy job to say the least but the result speaks for itself

the windows winders are clear mate just checked, only time will tel if this woks, tis my once attemp at usin fg i may fail who knows

did you really scratch/key the door card cos the fibreglass will struggle to stick to it otherwise and they will end up coming away

tbh honest no i didnt scratch or key the door card as iv followed to step by step tutorial on here, only time will tel if it will work but the 1st layer seems to b seetin well i will key the plastic before the 2nd layer of fibre glass just to make sure, im 50/50 if it will work but i hav notin to lose, if it dnt work its experiense at least

filled all the spaces an holes at each end with expandin foam an waited for it to set over night, then tongiht i hav cut the foam to size






then i dun a 2nd layer of firbreglass over the pods an put a layer over the foam to get a base





thats it for a couple of days now with it bein xmas, now the drinkin starts

its going to be interesting what it turns out like, but my guess would be that it isn't going to look right without the pocket. thats my opinion though

rus im interested 2 lol as i havent seen sum1 do it b4 but to me thats my insentive

wud love not to hav that 2nd bulge at the far end of the door but its hard to loose it cos of the way the pockets are made.

only time will tel im in no rush an if all else fails i cant say i dint try

would have left the door pocket on personally or started from scratch and made a plywood backing plate by drawing round origonal pocket and cutting out. then you could have put speaker pods on top of that and you wouldnt have had the bits sticking out at the end. Will be good to see how they turn out tho. respect for giving it a go yourself

maybe would've been better filling the door pocket with foam and smoothing that so its all smooth...

all the mounts for the end are on that bulge i have a few pics in my garage of them seperated
