diff looks faily average, may look "meaty" because how small the overhang is on the astra mk5 coupe. but for sure, that 240bhp (or even more) through 4wd in a lightweight sexy chassis might well put a big black one up subaru or mitsu. it would be waaaaay ahead of the rest of the hot hatch sector thats for sure, unless ford pull their fingers from their asses when it comes to a proper 4wd focus

Vauxhall could really do something here and up the ante in the hot hatch market.

If they did - it could be the start of the Vauxhall snobery.

Its not chocolate.
If you notice the problems have come about during the last 4 or 5 years.

This is because of years of misuse - when it works it was way ahead of its time. Just a shame no one knew about the after effects until later on.

My mate reckons its within reach! got 2 txb's accumulator all the rest of the stuff.. but whether one of us decided to go through with it or not is a different story

would be good to try out though as i have a 2nd shell that could be used as a test dummy and then everything changed over to the real car..

Looks good, I think it would work well in a light chassis as people have said.

As for worrying the Japs - Mitsubishi/Subaru/Nissan - I dont think its likely. The Japs have been doing the 4WD thing now for 10 years+, they have got it down to a fine art. Active diffs, DCCD, AYC etc etc. The only 4WD systems vaux have used has been in the Cav/Calibra and being honest they werent very good.........oh not forgetting the Frontera!

For the Vauxhall purist then its great, but I dont think it will steal any sales!

I think we need some more cars like the Calibra Turbo and Cavalier Turbo... Everyone seems to want a gay FWD car with 2 million horse power these days though, just because it makes thier cock look bigger at the pub.

I don't think Vauxhall would design the 4WD system themselves, they would buy one off of a company that knew what they were doing.

Could have a lot of potential.

Would show up all the current hot hatch contenders, leaving the Astra to take on Evos and Scoobs, could be a more modern day Escort Cos

bit of a bold statement IMO would still be a beast, dont get me wrong, but not in the same league as the escort cossie was back when it was released

dont GM have a finger in Subarus pie? Now an Astra with the subaru 4x4 and flat 4 would be impressive.

So long as they don't give it a silly Japanese name like that.

As I said on AS, 240bhp Astra VXR has too much power for that chassis, but it needs to be faster than Golf and Focus as they have a reputation for build quality and excellent dynamics respectively.

im pretty sure that Vauxhall could dip into the GM thinktank and steal a few 4WD ideas. Holden done it with the Coupe4

I know something you dont know

Dont really, just thought I'd keep in with the secretive winking.

Astra 4WD would be ace but would have alot of work to do if it were to go against the japs

Would probably make a good 2nd hand buy though once its been on the road a couple of years
