I actually think the Astra would win..

CTR is meant to be 6.8 to 60 and the AstraGSI is 7.0 but i reckon it would have more above 60 coz of the turbo.. and they handle really well aparently...

Handling wise the Civic type R, but straight line performance the Astra will have slightly more power and miles more torque!

I think it has 145lb/ft, but not only that, the small amount of torque it has doesnt peak until 5900rpm!!

I think the astra would get a couple of car lengths and I think it would stay there!!!!

1 litre Porsche beater had a race with his mate who had a Focus RS Turbo and he has a Astra GSi, the RS pulled out a car length on him.

To be honest I think those three cars are all very similar. i reckon there would be very little in it between any of them on the road!

I've played with Focus RS in the past and not been wasted. If anyone is familiar with joining the M62 right at the end from Liverpool you'll know where I mean, there's lights there, bit of a junction, some sweepy wide bends and a flyover before joining, which if you keep flat means you're on song by the time the road goes straight.

If you don't know the road or don't like accelerating up hills then you wouldn't be quick.

Thats mad because my mate used to race his Veccy GSi Tuned 215BHP and lowered 40mm against his mates type R and would pull away and kill him on the bends too! plus his mate in the type R is a rally driver and knows how to drive...

See if you'd have asked what would win a Vectra V6 or a Civic type r then I would have said the CTR every time. It just goes to show that stats and stuff mean nothing at all!

I got beat off a van the other day cos I was in the wrong gear and couldnt accellerate! Theres a million factors that come into play when you actually get a car on the road!

I raced a CTR in my standard SRI v6 and the CTR pulled away though..

The Veccy felt really quick until he bought the Monaro.. there is not much you can race with 410bhp that will give you a run for your money

Hmm... not sure, but i know there isnt much to choose between my Corsa and a CTR, fair enough never had a blast with one on twisty roads.

Up the 1/4 mile my mates valver Corsa pulled out 2 car lengths in the wet!!!
Got the Video of it somewhere too.

What do you think of the Monaro? I had a play with a big daft yellow one not so long back. He just couldnt get the power down at all............luckily for me there were loads of bends and only short straights! Seeing him trying to power out of the bends was amusing! It looked a true muscle car, loads of power but a serious handful!

Is there two variations? Two different power specs?

Yeah, there is the CV8 nd the VXR ..

My Mate has a CV8 tuned beyond VXR spec.. the dyno read 410 at the engine and 370 at the the hubs..

the car is awsomely quick 0-60 is obviously under 5 secs - you would know that if you went in it, i have quite alot to compare it to.. one of his previous cars was a 343bhp cossie that recorded a 4.4 to 60 and he reckons its identical to that but would pull away from the cossie easily after 60... it squats the same when you hit 3rd as it does when you hit second..

We test drive a standard CV8 and it felt a bit crap a bit like a standard WRX It felt around the booked 6 secs..

Its the quickest thing i have ever been in anyway..
