noticed they can cut out when i open the door, which wires am i looking for and is it the wires that is likely to be the problem?

its definitly the speaker wires, and more than likely its only one speaker causing it,check your connections behind the speakers.

connections behind speakers should be fine i think? i did it when i had normal speakers in but i've put some new components in and redone the connections fine, but it still has the problem. as it cuts out when i open the door i'm guessing the wiring in the bit that travels throught the joint in the door is broke/earthing itself?

i had this problem too, also when i wound my window down, i was using the autoleads adapters and the wiring was just hanging loose, once the window went down and touched the connection between the speaker and adapter and made it a loose connection.
I pushed the connectors back together and tie wrapped the speaker wires to the door frame and it has solved the prob 100%

think i've found where problem is... they were cutting in/out today with door open so i poked the bit where the wires go into the door and that made them cut back in.

I had the same problem with auto leads adaptors and with the window down making the thing cut out, just pull those wires in closer to the internal side of the door, dont let them get near that window where it winds down, what an arse of a pain

Just thought I'd say, I was advised to just turn the system up loud, and when I did that, the left speakers which weren't working before jumped back into life again!
