i've been out since this morn. and the car was runnin very smoothly. i parked it in the garage not more than 2hrs ago. now i went to take it out again and it didn't want to start. actually it starts and switches off again in a splitsecond. any ideas???

it has fuel, battery is not flat, and check also distributor. and if it can help its a 1.2 8v

alernator maybe, turn everything on including heating then start car and see if power is being drained at all.

could be many things, i had similar problem, my earth cable was not mounted to the body properly.

could be the main earth
my 1.2 did somthing similar just refused to start like a flat batt
but it wasnt i even trid bumpstarting it no joy

so i made a new main earth
unbolted the starter and alt wiring and cleaned up the contacts greased them a little and it was all fine and dandy

car would start without alt charging...

Whip off the ignition leads etc.... give them a once over and a squirt with water dispersant. May only be firing on 1, 2, 3 clyinders?!

When were the plugs last changed?
When was the filter last changed?
Is fuel getting to the engine?

Have you tried resetting the ECU? (unlpug battery for a minute or so)

thanks for that adam.
got it working fine this morn. had one of the clips that lock the distributor cap a bit loose. its temporalily ok. but i think i'll need to get a new 1. the thing is that when i tried to buy 1 i couldn't find seems that corsas had diff, distributor.
