i think its wheel bearings ... as i drive i get a clunking noise as wheels go round ?

maybe the driveshaft? as there is a lot of play when i move it... wen i shake the drive shaft the break disk shakes with it.....

but im sure its wheel bearings as my breaks are fine

CV joint by the sounds of it. Bearings make a whining/grinding noise.

Will be the CV joint

Dead easy to fix, costs about £45 for a new one. £90 for an official Vauxhall one

It will more than likely be the outer CV joint. Inners aren't subject to the same stresses. Usually last the lifetime of the vehicle.

To fix...well, once you've done them a few times, they are easy. But for a beginner, you'll be swearing at it. You'll need a pair of circlip pliers and sometimes the circlips can be a right pain in the ass.

It's a little fiddly sometimes. But if you're confident enough with doing it, then go for it.

Once you've got the circlip opened up, you'll need to tap the join from the shaft with a small mallet. Refitting is easy...but remember to fit the boot to the shaft first!! LOL

What do you mean I have used SOMETIMES?

Its not hard to do, just a bit fiddly.

Quick guide on how to do it is:

loosen wheel nuts
jack up
remove wheel
remove split pin
get someone to sit in the car with foot firmly on brakes
loosen & remove the "castle nut" (looks like a turret)
Loosen ball joint, remove it
think you remove the 2 bolts from the lower arm too
pull the brake disc/hub etc upwards to get the drive shaft free, then prop it up somewhere to keep it out the way
cut off the existing rubber cv boot
use the ciclip pliers to remove the circlip (this is the trickiest/fiddily bit, be patient)
slide the cv joint off the shaft
get new CV joint
grease it up a bit
slide new boot on
slide new cv joint on
the circlip will click so you know its locked in
and then just put it all back together

Don't go driving it about its not very safe.

There is two on each driveshaft (the bit that goes from the gearbox to the wheels)

Its will probably be the outer one. Change whichever side the noise is coming from.

As you turn one way more pressure would be on the opposite one

IE if you turn right & it gets louder you would need to change the left hand one
