ive done it with 0 gauge, its not a hard job, just time consuming wiring it neatly and keeping the wires safe from heat etc....

the 3 earth wires connected to your battery ... if you're uprating to a bigger battery (eg. a deep cycle optima yellowtop) then it's a good idea to uprate them too

4 gauge wiring can be used, easier to use than 0 gauge.. but 0 gauge would be better...
