sorry, i should have been more specific.
Im after starting my own personal database, to collate my own phone numbers.
But id really prefer to do this in microsoft access.

ok in ms access (office xp 2002) you can create a database which includes names contact numbers etc, using the built in wizard its quite simple to do, what version of office do you have? if u aint got xp version u2u me

Share it? Then try something like MS Exchange server, which can let you share contacts

You cannot share an Access DB unless they are used seperate.
The wizards are better from version 2000 and onwards but i always do it manual.

Get exchange running, get it working nicely with Outlook, shared contacts. Then you can allow people to view their mail from home using some sort of http+IMAP setup, if you havent got something like already.

that would be nice, but thats going up a different path...
*buy a server
*licence each pc to it (expensive)
labour cost to impliment this (expensive).
but its on the cards sometime, just not yet i think

im not sure, there is a dude who has set it up (Doesnt work for the company).
There is a single mde file on each of our root dir and then there is another couple of files on the shared mapped drive.
I know that the job book wont open if the mapped drive (snap server) is turned off, so they must talk somehow.

That deffo Access? I was told at uni that you could not share a db in Access and would have to use SQL. I did try and do it at one point to but couldn't see any tools to do it 
IF you could find out how's it's done i would be really greatful !!!

yer, tis my problem.
Ive just upgraded EVERYONES pc at work, and spent a fortune, and got them out of the licence trouble they were in when i first joined (well nearly now).
