I would imagine a sport would be quicker as the sport is a 16v whereas a vtr is an 8v

yeh the vtr might have it off the lights (torque down low and lighter) - but corsa should start catching it in 2nd, 3rd and go past.

Not a huge deal in it low down.

My factory standard 1.6 Sport kept up with the VTR at the lower revs but once the Sport got some revs going the VTR never stood a chance.

VTS is a different kettle of fish completely and blows the sport away.

I wouldn't have said a long way. My 1600 used to beat them but it wasn't comfortable.

Anyway, don't buy a car on that alone.

Yeah, its not massively faster, just enough to slide past if side by side, which is always nice. I remember one chasing me to Stevenage on the A1, got to 100, and it just fell back, so i slowed down but he kept trying it on, so i just gave it some gas about 3 times before he gave up

Was following one the other day and it got me off the mark but as soon as i hit 2nd i was pullin on him and overtook him in 3rd....

But all depends on the driver too.

(I am running a std 1.6 sport......)

Corsa in a straight line, but by how much depends on the year of the VTR. Later VTR's have near 100bhp, older ones are 90bhp.
Oh and theres no way a 1.4 16v corsa would beat either in a straight line, unless. the saxo driver didnt know how to drive
Saxo would be faster round corners. No debate about that.

Saxo would handle much better on the twisties, but whether we are talking about the mk1 or mk2, they are not as fast in a straight line as a Corsa 1.6. mk2's have 98bhp by the way.
