simple answer, YES.

Im atm running a 200x 2 RMS amp on my comps, and a 300 x 1 RMS amp on the sub and the battery cant handle that...

my sub amp will be achanging to a 900w RMS amp soon, and i will be changing the battery before hand.

Y u powering 6x9's in rear with the amp, and not some front comps??

becuase i bort my 6x9's ages before i got subs. i will only have 6x9's runnin HPF on my amp. will defo get components in front door at some point, my 6x9s wont be in my final instal, there are just there til i get component money.

once subs, batter n wat ever is done, then ill finish it off with nice components in a door build

Exide Ultima.. ill note that down. And its gota be 12v, yea?

i havent done the big 3 yet. thats wat ive been readin about thou on here.

ive only got 4AWG runnin to my amp, and 8awg runnin to the other.
does this mean i would only need to run 4AWG in the big three, or should i get 0AWG anyway?

how will i know if ill need a bigger alternator? do i just wait until my car conks out

4 gauge should be ok for you in the big 3, but id run 0 gauge setup with that kinda power IMO.

Exide Ultima is a car battery so yeah its 12V, look at the one for corsa C 1.7TD or similar will be the biggest that fits in your car.

If you fit new battery and do the big 3 and it still dims with bass drops you need a new alternator really.

May aswel get the 0AWG then

what if i DONT get a new alternator if my lights dim? would this just run my battery flat after a while of continuous play, or would it melt my alternator, or would it just be annoying and look silly?

is a yellow top powerful enough not to need a bigger alternator? like i sez, ive never looked into the world of bigger batteries

are you runnin 0AWG in you instal?

Nah i dont have an uprated alt, i just pop it on a huge charger every 2 weeks to keep it going.

Must do some good because when the switch to the yellow top is turned off, the lights go dim when it is turned on everything glows brighter this is with the engine running mind

yeah it doesnt give it a decent charge compared to the amount of current draw from the ICE it has to deal with. After 2-3 weeks the lights start to dim when you turn the switch on which indicates its in need of a good chargin. Just think my alternator is 55a at 14.4v, my charger is 180 odd amps at 14.9-15v

I'm just going to be using my yellow top as my only battery ... not planning a split charge system like yours. will I have to keep charging it myself do you think?

Its best to.

However, yellow tops arent designed to be an up front starting battery anyway, it cost me an extra £20 to set up my split charge system, so when i start the car it automatically shuts off the power to the yellow top so it only takes power from the diesel battery up front.

I can defo say that after 3 weeks i notice the subs sounding a bit sluggish, i whack my external charger on for a few hours, and bam its sounding great again.

Also to give you an idea, after leaving my car running at 2500rpm on my drive for 2 hours to see what charge it would give the yellow top, i tested the yellow top with a draper testing machine, and it read 650 odd CCA's and 60 odd amp hours.

After a charge with my mean external charger, it gave a reading of 1134CCA's and around 130ah, which is a crazy improvement.

Guy i know has a pug with two 250a alternators side by side he doesnt need an extra battery
