is there a difference between the mounting position into the chassis on a corsa and a nova??

Nova's and Corsa's don't have chassis'... But, they do use different bodywork and gearbox mounts.

so 2.0 16v mounts for a nova would be no good in a corsa then

Nope, you need a 2.0 Corsa engine mount and a gearbox spacer (or modify the rear gearbox mount). You can get the mounts for about £50 though - they are easy enough to make though if your handy at welding and cutting steel.

is there a guide to modifying the gearbox mount, i read about that before somewhere, grinding a lip off or sumats

that doesnt really show the modified mount, it says he used a spacer. plus the mounting points in my shell the engine is to go in look different to them, they got like bell shaped bits with the rubbers in

Or if there is no room on the front jacking point for a trolly jack and axle stand you can use a scissor jack to support the car while you swap the trolly jack with the axle stand. Not difficult really...
