My Corsa was a Merit - it was far nicer than my friends base level Saxo - and £1000 cheaper... Good job we slammed that piece of crap into a tree

depends do you want a fast car that has a lesser interior, or a slower car with a better interior and other features? id rather have a corsa over a saxo, but thats just me.

Saxo's may be generally quicker than corsas, but vauxhall's do have better engines and they sound 10x better than saxo's and sound counts for alot imo. Also, as everyone knows, saxo's aren't exactly the toughest cars, and after seeing my mates car crumpled after a 30Mph crash i wouldn't feel safe in one.

never lost to a vtr in my 1.4 sport

the 8 valve set up means it has a lot of low down torque hence feeling quicker/....this must fool most saxo drivers into thinking they actually drive a perfomance car....

corsa will have much better midrange and once they are rolling corsa should pull away slowly....

both cars have similar spec in ragards to top speed etc

i can remember havin my 1.4 16v lump. had to push it to get to 100. saxo easily gets there.

im just bein fair. saxo VTR is a better drivers car, full stop. (standard)

comparin corsa 1.4 16v to clio 1.4 16v, clios r a lot quicker too. corsas are pretty sluggish

you must be in dream land if you think a saxo gets there MUCH quicker...i'd say much about the same time....plus u had a VTR for three weeks and didnt drie my corsa at all....got back in corsa and saw very little differnce apart from the handling and the midrange grunt...

and also the piss poor build quality and shakes in a a 3 months old vtr

Depends which engine they have TBH. the 1.6 GSi is by no means sluggish.

you are stuck up your own arse. The Corsa B IMO is a better all round car than the Saxo ever was. Not only was it a much older design than the Saxo, it is better looking, better build quality and better engines. the interior is far superior on the corsa which is now a 10-11 year old design, compared to the Saxo which is significantly newer. The base spec Corsas were pretty basic, but still a lot more attractive than base spec Saxos.

saxo does get there with more ease. feels lighter too. i dunno if it was coz i drove the 100bhp newer model (2001 Y), the pre 99 (90bhp) might b shite.

im just givin my opinion. like i sed i used to own a corsa, if ther was any reason for me to lie, it would be in favour of the corsa.

Ive hung on to the back of many a VTR in my 1.4 16V sport, and as for the comment of the clio 1.4 16V being quicker I think you'll find the corsa quicker than its lesser powered rival not by much but all the same, there arent many 1.4 16V's as quick as the corsa lump apart from obviously the Fiat punto GT turbo, no doubt that the VTR is better handling i mean what isnt better handling than a corsa

in the end, the corsa is overally the better car. has better build quality, more tuning accessories, better build quality. the only thing the saxo has better than the corsa is its appeal. it is a nicer looking car standard but vauxhall is in my blood and i will stick by my corsa, cos it slays vtr's from the lights and the only time i see them again is dissapearing in my rear view!
