Fuck being in a plane for 18 hours, your just asking for trouble.

Its bad enough flying around Europe let alone Singapore to America.

lol @ bonzai. In my opinion, Boeing are very much still in the game. Airbus have got a feel about them comparable to french cars. They look really flimsy, and the boeings look more proportioned and 'chunky'. but i think the A380 will change that. Not doubting the ease that engineers can work on Airbus' , but its the fact that boeing still prefer tried and tested aircraft design and methods, from an engineers point of view, not everything controlled by the miriad of computer systems found on the entire airbus family, bar the A300/A310. saying that though, most 737-200's are now designated 737-200ADV because their entire flight avionics have been brought back up to date from the 60's design they once were. Its a good thing, yet you are taking away all the greasy hands on bits for engineers.

3CM, you have no bollocks.

Jambos_chic, the 744 is still very much the dominating long range aircraft chosen by airlines, but it is far from the design that the latest aircraft have. Boeing have been working on new versions for the last 5 years like the 747-400ER which is an extended range version. It is still a dream to fly, but saying it is a much better aircraft than the 777 is wrong. You mention about the 777 not being able to soak up turbulence more, but every flight is different, and the sheer size and power of the 777 makes it very similar to the 747 in the air. as for comfier seats, it is very much the airlines discretion to provide adequate seat dimensions, and many choose the cheaper option. I tell you one thing, the flight i had last week going into bangkok was far from comfortable, and that was a 747. It was being chucked around like a toy.

747 classics rock!! watching that thick black smoke pour from the engines on take off is fun!! and they are frickin noisy. Just like car exhausts, noisier the better, take concorde for example

its an engine that used to power bransons old 742's across the pond to america. Made by General Electric.
