Read a thread on Novaload (I like Novas) on 1.2 16v Corsa vs a Nova SR. Drove a Nova Sr 1.4 on the H today, low miles 56,000 one lady owner for 800 notes, maybe steep. Feels lots quicker than the 1.2 16v Comfort I bought recently, and feels wuicker than the original 1.4 Sri I had before it got a 2.0. If a 1.2 16v is amatch, surely the vauxhall stated 75 bhp is more like 80-85 in reality ?

Whats the kerb weight of an SR anyway about 850 kg or less ?

Maybe a Corsa looses less power from flywheel to wheels too ?

The Offical Figures ala Total Vauxhall:

Nova 1.3 SR 0-60 12.5 69bhp
Nova 1.4 Sri 0-60 10.5 83bhp

Corsa 1.4 8v Sri 0-60 11.5 84bhp
Corsa 1.4 16v Sri 0-60 10.5 88bhp

But get this:

Nova Sport 0-60 8.9! 84bhp From a 1.3 8v!

Why dont Vauxhall make engines like these any more?

A 1.3 SR will keep up with a 1.4 8v corsa, but not a 16v top end. It will however out handle the chubby corsa with ease.

Official figures mean nothing, especially when we are talking about cars that are 10+ years old. A Nova 1.3 is on a par with a 1.4 SRi corsa. A Nova 1.4 SR is on a par with the 1.4 16v, as is the Nova SRi.

My pick of the bunch is the 1400SR. Thirsty and need maintaining, but full zaust and bolt on filter on these, and they were a real fun drive.

Depends on driver really. 1300SR Novas were good little cars, but the 100cc extra in the corsa SRi should keep it at least level. U musta had a quick SR, which i know there were many about!

yeah, probably helped. I drove my mates nova 1400SR for a couple of months, and that was rapid. Had skimmed head, filter, zaust, cam etc and was a fast little car.

Bout 20mpg, but it was fun enuff not to care! lol

Sorry but you are wrong.

1.3SRs are FASTER than a 1.2 16v corsa, let alone the 1.4sr. How can a lighter car with more power be the "same as"?

The nova will also out handle and out break a corsa.
