well on the way to milton keynes sunday just gone i had 121 on clock of my 1.6 sport down a5 naughty i know although yes i know may not have been doin it but thats not the question a crx 1.6 160bhp model came past me and i dont even think he was caning it that much i heard the vtec as he just went past meaning the car revving at roughly 6500rpm with no vtec an still went past me like i was doin 80

not bein funny but a 1.0 corsa doin 115 i can believe the speedo reading out my heck of alot but i truly believe my corsa was doin 117-118 really, as my m8 in his 1.4 16v i left him behind an he only got 112 roughly on the clock so...........

Isnt the VTS/VTR/106 GTi attitude worth an extra 10000 bhp ?

lol ye thats true, however I must admit that a lowered and stiffened Saxo handles well so I assume must be the same for the 106. Saxo/106 might be slightly faster round the bends but the Honda will blitz on the straights

A friend of mine has a VTS, with as far as I could see, a big exhaust on it, and he can beat my 2.0 Corsa off the mark by a good margin, its only a long stretch like up to 70 or 80 that I catch him then pass him, much to his dismay. Turns out he now reckons its an L.A.D. conversion, which IIRC had mixed evaluations by those who had it done, still it could be anything up to 160 bhp.

Sounds interseting, what kind of rev limit does that conversion take it to? I would have though that getting that kind of power out of the VTS engine would have had some kind of sacrifice on low down torque in order to get the top rev power, you should be able to beat these French carrier bags with a 2.0!

ENGINE and EXHAUST
Power raised to approximately 160 bhp at the flywheel by extensive cylinder head modification, incorporating larger inlet and exhaust ports and revised camshaft timing. An exhaust manifold and system based on the rally Kit Car engine can be fitted to the 160 bhp kit; this produces another 10 bhp raising the power output to approximately 170 bhp.

This is a quote from the LAD site.

Seems feasible, but the engine does not provide enough torque to overcome rolling resistances like a 2.0 can.

Says something on the site about a cylinder head modification only for the VTR which nets an extra 30 bhp.

I doubt it.

DAYZEE you don't half talk some Pish.

When my 106 GTi was standard I timed in a 15.7 1/4 mile at Pod.

With a few minor mods I was running 15.1's regularly, including beating a Civic Type-R at USC 2003.

0-60 been officially timed at Bruntingthopre Air Strip at 6.9 seconds...

So I would be surprised if he wasn't an even match for the CRX.

No chance, mags have tested it at 23.9, peugeot have it down around 25/26. Same as the VTS. The Honda will do it in about 20/21s.

106 is around 20s

doing a 0-60 that quick will put you out of power band for a quick 0-100

Vibrio actually talking sense for a change. What's going on today.

You get the launches right on a GTi / VTS then there's not many cars under 2000cc that will beat it.

Can I emphasise "not many"

As I said Vibrio I'm nailing 1/4 miles on around 15.1... I don't beleive your hairdryer powered 1.4 can match that.

So I wouldn't say my 0-100 is suffering that much.

Did u have any mods at the time?

If the del-sol is anything like the oldder shape vti they are poo at putting the power down before about 20, rolling start i'd say the del-sol would take it...plus remeber there isn't much meat on the car...

I had a closed induction airfilter and some 16" alloys at the time and that was it.

Through the gears the GTi is very quick as you're constantly in the power band. I expect from a rolling start or in gear the CRX probably would be quicker.

You think so Daimo?

I've just spent a few beans on Fast Road cams & Pulleys, Polishing & Porting, Balancing & Lightening, Group A head, quickshift and paddle clutch.

Get the car back tomorrow after over a week in surgery.

Bearing in mind I already had a closed induction filter, full SS system and decat plus a Rally Spec 4-1 branch manifold.

Looking at about 165bhp when I get it back.
