when the time comes to swap my 1.4 16v sport engine or it goes(high millage) i dont know which would b the best to go for! i will need to insure it what ever! where is the best blace to get a DECENT 2.0 from or a 1.6 16v??? can u buy the 1.6 from a vauxhal garage new?

need some infor for v future!

you cant get a complete brand new 1.6 from vauxhall, however they can still supply most the major parts like cylinder head etc etc Your best bet is to scour classifieds and check for any breakers yards with good engines. Someone like lee mitchell can probably source a good engine and fit it. If i were you, go for the 1.6 and go the throttle body route. yummy

Been there with teh 1.6, 2.0 has just got that extra umph.

Plus it can be made to look pretty

a 1.6 can be made to look pretty too. Its also the best N/A engine vauxhall ever made

id say 1.6 16v as thats what im doing, worked out better that way for me

Debatable. I think the redtop and LETs are personnally.

1.6 is lighter so better handling and can be tuned but the 2.0 already has 150bhp and can also be tuned easily. tbh its up to you

1.6 will prob be more cost effective and newer with probably less mileage.

LET isn't NA, i was talking in general.

1.6 costs about £700+ to buy and fit
XE costs £1500

XE is much faster. Your going to need to spend £1500+ to get near XE power but with less torque.

What about the insurance difference though

And one of the biggest problems i have when deciding the very same situation is selling!

I alwasy think that when it comes to sell my car its gonna be physically appealing to the younger modders but they are not going to be able to afford insurance and if someone is after the power of a 2.0L then they probably wont want the looks that the car has

So its a very very tough one if you have a very physically modded car, IMO anyway

Simple one

Dont modify a car with intention to sell it straight away.

4 years, and no plan of stopping yet. And like fuck im gonna let someone else own my car that i've spent thousands making only for some little torag to ruin it.

Id rather keep it and break it when i eventually get bored.

As daimo says, im planning to keep my car untill

A) i break it
B) I get far too old for it

Id rather buy another car and allways keep mine. Its so cheap. Cars all paid for, cost nout ot maintain other than tyres. And its a little play ground for me when i have money and its my hobby.

If i have loadsa cash now and was gunna get a new car id rather buy a veccy gsi or sommit and keep corsa still.

And it rip mine to peices when i sell it to make back SOME of them money, not gunna waste my time selling it as a whole, cosi know ill regret selling it.

Ask alot of people who sold their cars, most wish they hadnt

Yeh but its still something for him to consider as he may want to get a new car after abit and some people cant break their cars as in smoothed in cars etc!

Ahh, but thats something you should consider when making the car.

Far too many people with to much money trying to have the "coolest" car without thinking about it. Everyone knows u'll never make money on a modified car, but there are ways you can sell a car and make more money from it.

2.0 everytime why waste more cash on tuning a 1.6 engine when you got the BHP there to start with

Selling it can't really be that much of an issue anymore, cars are so to cheap to buy now

cheers for comments ppl, its a tough choise, i would love a 2.0, but i'v heard so many ppl complain, that its unreliable! a 1.6 wil b easier to sell, but i have NO intention of doing that! BUT i want an engine which is going to last a long time, and have power, PLUS one other major prob is the insurance!! i could get away not telling them if i put a 1.6, they look the same!

I thought about not telling insurance aswell, but if i did do it i would tell them as i would just be soooooooooooo gutted if they found out and didnt pay out on a claim

Ive been informed you can keep 1.4 16v gearbox and alot of other stuff

u2u Lee Mitchell he gave me a cracking quote to plumb one in

Anyone know what power 1.6s put out with exhaust filter and both manifolds

cheers, i'l u2u him to find out more. with swapping 1.4 16v into 1.6 16v there is not much u have to change, except the ECU and engine? is that right?

Do you need a chip or anything else or that just with:

Inlet and exhausrt manifolds, Which ones
Pipercross Viper and Cat back, maybe de cat.
