i much prefer my F16 to the F20. Acceleration improved by almost a second yet retained top end speed.

well it has a suggested torque rating of 160lb/ft. So with a standard 20XE putting out just under this, and tuned going over 106, its bound to get worn easily when you got a heavy right foot.

F16 came in various cars in WR and CR form. Found in Astras, cavaliers. Was not used in corsa GSi, that got the F15 box which is also found in the 1.6 Sport.

F16WR is not really ideal if you want to drive the car hard, but if the engine is tuned and will rev hard then not to much of a problem as 60 can be had in 2nd, and in 5th gear 90mph is a smidge over 3k rpm. just need to remember to hold the gear longer before shifting up, as 4th in the WR is the same as 5th in the CR.

also the comments about the torque figures I beleive are rubbish, pretty sure that this was discussed many times on MIG and it was proven as just folklore, and also from memory I beleive that the same size etc bearings in the both boxes so how is one stronger than the other??

Right the corsa is going to be used for only 1/4 mile sprints,it has an 2l 16v engine with sbd throttle bodie kit fitted and is also away to get nitrous fitted too.
i am thinking the f16 cr box is what i will get but still not quite sure. need the best acceleration up to 100 i can get.will i get better acceleration up the 1/4 mile from a f16 CR compared to a WR or wil there be little differance??? iv got a f16 just now but think its a WR cos it drops about 1500 revs when changing gear, would that be right???

possibly, cant remember exactly, but the real test is the 70 mph test, CR 70mph is 3k in 5th, WR 70mph is 3k in 4th and 90 in 5th, need to really go to the redline for each shift or else it just feels like its trying to bog down, but probably not too bad with your spec engine
either box you will need to reach 4th gear anyway I think so no real advantage up to 100 mph in a gearchange less, I know that mine used to indicate 122 in 4th flat out, then shift to 5th, and not really do much LOL, but prett sure that with raised limiter etc the CR will give 100 in 4th

I know for a fact that while bouncing off the limiter in 2nd I could get 62 mph, that was measured on a radar gun, and pretty sure that could get to about 93 in 3rd??, but havent driven that car for over a year now so maybe compkletely wrong

The 20SEH had a F16CR mated to it and 20XE had the F20 on it. the cluster are the same but the F16 has a larger release bearing. The Fxxxx bit is not the torque ratign in lbs, it's in Nm, so the F16 isn't strogn enough wiht a 20XE, but many ppl run them no problem.
