Hi, would a seized hydraulic tappet cause the engine to run on 3 cylinders
and oil foul the plug ?. Just noticed that the usual tappet rattle didn't
appear whilst starting from cold, still running on 3 cylinders though !

do a compression test. I had a bust head gasket with similar symptoms.
