On one of my servers i cannot copy files onto my removable HDD. It disconnects the drive and then says the device is not ready. Works fine on my other 2 servers and also on my laptop. Formated the removable drive but still does the same. Anyone got any ideas? It's a 300 gig USB 2 drive with the NTFS file system. The server is also USB 2 running Win XP Pro with all the lateset MS UPDATES etc. Don't wanna have to format the server drive as it means i'll loose money whilst it's down

check the usb settings in the bios & restore the default settings to double-check

could also be a dodgy usb connector on the board, does it have front mounted ones & if so, try it in them.

if its running xp pro, its not a 'server', but a dumb client!
