check the usb settings in the bios & restore the default settings to double-check

could also be a dodgy usb connector on the board, does it have front mounted ones & if so, try it in them.

if its running xp pro, its not a 'server', but a dumb client!

On one of my servers i cannot copy files onto my removable HDD. It disconnects the drive and then says the device is not ready. Works fine on my other 2 servers and also on my laptop. Formated the removable drive but still does the same. Anyone got any ideas? It's a 300 gig USB 2 drive with the NTFS file system. The server is also USB 2 running Win XP Pro with all the lateset MS UPDATES etc. Don't wanna have to format the server drive as it means i'll loose money whilst it's down :mad:
