They are a common fault. This fault was sorted in the later versions so id recommend upgrading to them straight away. You lose one, you either limp home on 3 cylinders or as you have said, your fucked.

Oh, and dont put any type of oiled Induction kit on there, you will fuck the MAF and they are nearly 200 quid a time.

Nope, fairly cheap to get the newer versions, but i would recommend always carrying a spare set, or have a spare set at home incase you need them. I have a spare set even though ive never had a coilpack failure sitting here at home. If i get stranded i know i can get someone to drive over with them.

nah, cheap and easy to sort but id highly recommend having a spare set somewhere. Piece of piss to change them but if one goes, id change all of them.

the dynatwist filter sold by badger 5 is regarded as one of the best filters..although a panel filter is proabably better.

i now have a 1.6sport. bit of a come down, but 100% paid for and ready for modifying..

with referance to coils..mine had done 32k and was still on the original ones, so speak as u find..however if u look at the seatcupra.net..most on there have been stranded at some time or other. and i was told not to drive home on 3 coils as it messes the cat up..!

great cars though. getting more popular now prices are softening.

this is very true, it will screw the cat big time.

I have the Quickshift tapian CAI, does the job pretty well although the standard airboxes are very well designed so there isnt much of a gain to be had from induction kits.

by the way..when i say 1.6sport i mean Corsa not the immitation ibiza Cupra..

just wanted to clear that up!

dont bother with an induction kit, when i took it off it ran better with the o.e box. waste of 200quid to be honest. run a panel filter and leave it.
