Just changed it sine the other was on the verge of snapping.

But now when i get to a certain amount of revs i am getting a whining noise coming from the altanator.

Any ideas on what it could be?

It doesnt sound like the a normal slipping noise.

Is there anything else it could be? I really dont want to overtension the belt.

Not to tight.

Still about 13mm of free play in the center of the two pulleys.

Right got it fixed.

Let some tension of and its stopped whining.

Just finding it weird that when it was it a good tension it the altanator whined like hell.

Has anybody else came across this problem before?

My old Punto had a similar whining noise. I just had the timing belt changed and it was tightened up to much.
