Some metal, some plastic.

The easiest way is to put the in the centre bore of the wheel before you put it on. You could put them on the hub first but I find its a bit harder to get the wheel flat to the hub this way.

i see, so i put them in the wheel and then mount the wheel, it sounds a bit easy, is it a tight fit and harder in practice ?

well heres an update, i put them on today (they are metal and came with the wheels) but there is a high pitch squeeling noise when cruising at 30/40 mph. I'm assuming this will wear off after a week or so of regular use? The noise stops during acceleration or braking but is very eveident when crawling at say 2mph. Thanks for all your help regarding this matter.

Might be the tyre wall rubbing on the inside of the arch?

listen mate, i didnt mean to take the piss soz, its just when i put the wheels on originally, they made no squeelin noise, but since these things are on, it squeels loads ........ ? is it not the inside of the spigot rubbing against the hub as the wheel turns ??

if the spiggots are turning then they aint the right size,

that cud be the fault,

best thing to do is take the wheel off again
have a look at the size

should say 56.6 on it

it is a vauxhall aint it?

its a vaux calibra, when i put them in the wheel they were tight. But it is to my understanding that if they are tight (i.e. a snug fit that dont swivel inside the wheel) they are a good fit (??) and when the wheel turns they remain snug inside the wheel and therefore rotate around the hub with the wheel. Thus assuming squee l= noise of spigot rubbing against hub ....... ?? Please confirm my assumptions, thanks for your help.

shouldnt squeel fella!

ur assumptions are good assumptions but i have sold and fitted hundreds of sets of wheels with the rings
and never have i heard of squeeling!
lol

was they a snug fit on the hub?

in the interest of being accurate, my understanding of the hub is the part the wheel mounts on. The spigot was placed inside the wheel, the wheel was mounted onto the hub making to effort to observe its secureness as I thought that if they are the wrong fitment, smaller ones will rattle and larger ones wont fit, they were supplied with the package from rochfordtyres
