What's with drivers using foglights, but only putting on their sidelights??

I've seen so many cars the past week doing this, but surely if it's foggy enough to warrant foglights, then you should also use your main beam headlights??

Sometimes... when it rains a bit... they also put on foglights. Know don't quote me on this, but last time I checked "rain" wasn't "fog".

I dunno, maybe I should get myself a Punto or some other car with foglights as std - there's probably a light on the dashboard that says "foglights on you cunt" or something.

they aint actually foglights

they are lights for driving in reduced visability, so if the rain or snow is heavy enuff to reduce visability, then you can use these lights

as for juts side lights - saxo's

But I've known several people get pulled for driving with "driving lights" on, the officers in question claiming they are "foglights".

I find the side-lights only thing to be more rep-sized cars - Laguna's, Mondeo's, Vectra's, etc.

thats cause the police aint got a clue between the differance of driving lights and foglights

i replaced the fogs in my corsa bumper with driving lights (they reflect differently) and still got stopped for them. - even when telling the cop they aint fogs lights, they just dont listen

spots must be linked to full beam so that they can only come on when full beam is on

It's like taking an umbrella into the shower!

Joff is SOOOOOOOO right!

It doesnt matter if they're driving lights of fogs, why would you want them on without your dipped lights on!?!?!? This has been bugging the tits off me for ages.

That and twats that think having lights on is "uncool" so drive about without lights till its pitch black or its totally foggy but still insist on not letting people know they're there.

What about cyclists that ride with no other light than a poxy 3-led flashing pile of turd.

The law states the LED lights have to be used in conjunction with a main cycle light (ie, filament bulb).

So if I "didn't see him officer", can I run the fucker into the pavement?

I think your tring to get a response and well It worked. I have always suspected this when I see cars with just side lights on. I am trying hard to understand why you would only use sideslights on in the dark and fogs. I suspect however Saxos come with this fuction like Volvos come with the lights always on. there is no off button

Its actually legal to drive with fog lights on if you're not also displaying dipped beam and you're in a 30 limit. Not a lot of people know that

seems strange when your not allowed to have them on unless visablity is reduced. heavy rain fog etc.

drving lights only come on with full beam also

Its because often you can actually see BETTER with fogs and side lights. if you have your main beam on as well you get more of a whitewash sort of vision but by having them off the fogs can do what they are designed for without other light sources getting in the way

I agree. If you need your fog lights you don't need much forward light as you should not be going very fast.

As for using them when you shouldn't totally agree its bloody annoying. Strangly enough during my 10 minute drive to Halfords this morning I saw 3 BMW drivers with them on in virtually perfect conditions!
