ok recent culprits of this? ie I think there have been a few cars over the years that are not worthy of the GTi badge. Said owners of these cars are the same group that think they are in the fastest thing on the road as well because there car says "Gti" so it must be really really fast.

Number 1 has to be the Escort GTi, what is so GTi about it? its just a rebadged 1.8si?

Any others?

the golf GTi mk4 cos the diesel is quicker thats just emabarassing

in some manufacturers they use it as a trim level don't they? e.g sport seats, fog lights, and a few other extras.

Proton Satria GTi -> erm, nice arches

Oh and "lotus" tuned suspension! We've all heard that before with the post 97 corsa sport -> turned out to be identical suspension to the bottom of the range 1.2, but with 15mm short springs. Great

Doesnt have the 150bhp engine though does it? whats the Gti 105bhp? thats nothing in a car the size of an escort.

New mkV GTi will be a 150bhp 2.0 tho. Or a 197bhp 2.0 turbo.
