Im amazed you guys have only just heard about this. Their was a big thing in the news about 18months ago that Vauxhall were recalling LOADS of Corsa's to have the set frames changed as they tend to snap VERY easily during a crash causing severe injuries to drivers!  Go get it done lads...

fcuk!!! mine collapsed at some point and some monkey with a blow torch fixed it ( i didn't own it at the time) but it collapsed on me, but i have removed my seats in favour of some buckets, you reckon i'll still get mine done?

they did this to mine & 3 months later the seat-rail collapsed 
took it to vaux to complain saying that it had gone on the part they were supposed to of sorted & then just said its unrelated & wanted me to pay £50 to have it welded & fixed (was the bracket mounting on the floorplan which was damaged too)
did it myself in the end

they don't replace anything
they just twat the ends of thje rails with a hammer as before there is just a notch inside the rail to stop the seat flying forward out of the rails, so knocking the ends up & welding it acts like a barrier (so was told from the guy who did it)

soz didnt explain right
nah if you look at the rails where the seat slides about in (forward & back), they just close up the front of the rail so the seat wont slide out of the front in a smash or if they get damaged
you can still replace seats

its pre-facelift B models only from what i was told (upto 97), so the new ones have slightly different seat rails

I got a letter recalling mine which is a post 97 facelift model 1.6 sport..
took it in and got it done a while a go now..

my seat isnt wobbly, but then again i didnt own the car in 2001 so maybe the previous owner got a letter :s

for a bit more info on the recalls for vauxalls or any car for that matter, go to the AA's website www.theaa.co.uk and click on A to Z then click on R and you can then click on vehicle recalls and get all the details of what the recall is for, what models affected, and some vin numbers affected etc.

Christ, i might take me motor down say i aint happy with the welding and hammering my seat rails cos there is no garentee of there work and demand new rails that dont have this problem if they exist

Build Date: Up to July 1997

Defect: The cable can break as the handbrake is applied. Apparently this has occurred in no more than a dozen vehicles and has not resulted in any injuries or cars going out of control.
Action: It takes about 45 minutes to fit the larger diameter and structurally improved cable and each registered owner will receive a letter advising them of the need to contact a dealer to arrange a convenient time for work to be carried out. Vauxhall will write to owners of the oldest vehicles first and are advising customers to park the car in gear or with the automatic shift lever in Park, as recommended in the owner's handbook.

Take a print off of what you just wrote, take it to vauxhall ask them to show proof this more structurally stronger cable is fitted to your vehicle, if they carnt you can try and push it
