updates... engine was back in and running well...

Hired Crail for some mapping

BUT it spat a valve shim at SLS round 2 and lost compression on that clylinder. The engine is now fixed and just waiting to go back in..... with the 6speed DCCD box this time and SYVECS ECU

SLS Round 2

Was in front most of the day, with low 56s laps but car broke in Qualy which meant it was all for nothing

Struggled with braking issues most of the day.... i.e they didnt work as well as I wanted them to Glazed pads and possibly sticky pistons in the front

cough

My usual calm delicate driving at its finest Feck.... I must remember to insert my brain

KAAZ 1.5way rear LSD ordered....

boot swapped for GRP skin, OE spoiler ditched too - saving about 10kg

Dual element wing fitted.... just inside the width, and in line with the roof

Front bumper 'editing' started... this is a replica of Fee's... and Fee's being a 22B shelled car it requires a bit of work to make it fit. Getting there though.

made up some mounts for the bumper aerocatches..... welding like a pro <cough>

Mounted the 22B bumper to my 'thin' TypeR.... a few issues but fits. The ABW arches needed trimming, and makes me want 22B arches on this one even more

More of the wing and rear GRP boot skin mounted

Frame made up for the composite splitter, and zinc primed. Used 12mm tube (1mm wall thickness) for the main frame, and 8mm for the braces.

Will work on mounting it to the car (triangulated uprights with tubes to bolt through) with 5 fixing points to the chassis. 14mm Tube for those

Primed frame introduced to alucore splitter

Frame painted, splitter covered and ready to chop (tried this one a different way... chopped after carbon wrap. Prpob best to chop then wrap)

Two fixing points per side, and one rear mount off subframe

95kg test load

trimmed down

Edging strip applied

HDPE strip applied to base of bumper to bridge the gap.

I can lower the splitter easy enough, and could raise if needed with a bit of chopping and welding.

Braced the rear ARB mounts - rather than spending £££ on aftermarket ones

couple of tie-bars added to splitter

Headers on their way, so removed the old split ones and wrapped the spare up-pipe. Moved to 3 bolt pattern from 2. My old headers had horrible lagging on them so a bit itchy now!!!

Swapped my unknown front ARB for fee's old 22mm whiteline one. Its larger diameter, and a simpler design.

7th Feb

new rain light arrived..... just need to decide where to put it!

headers:

Welded on L brackets with bolts (welded on nut so it wont loosen, and cut just cut off if needs be) to try and stop the orig small brackets failing.

re-wrapped with DEI

fitted, refitted turbo and downpipe... with new gaskets all round

re-run wiring, and tested LED rain light...

20th Feb

Woop woop...

490bhp, 440lbft.

Must be about 415bhp at wheels (havent seen plots yet)

Susp to fit, rear LSD to fit, brakes to bleed. ... spanner check then trackday on 28th

25th Feb

What an evening last night LOL - I thought I did well not to chuck my rear diff through a window!

- Car up on stands
- both rear EXE-TC struts off (both bent), rear standard R180 LSD out.
- Rear BCs fitted
- KAAZ LSD in - tightened all bolts up, got to prop and the flange was a slightly different PCD (discovered after about 30mins of faffing/measuring other props and flanges I have kicking about.
- KAAZ out
- Stripped flange off old diff, and fitted to KAAZ. Didnt have torque figures to hand and no internet via phone with shite signal.
- Fitted KAAZ, shafts in, all done up - tried to rotate hubs/shafts and monster preload!!! Feck!
- KAAZ out, flange off, flange on and torque to 134lbft via text info from Steven
- KAAZ in, tightened up, shafts in...
- Front left EXE-TC out - bent like a bloody banana

Then noticed it was 1am... what a bloody nightmare

suspension just wasnt up to my manliness it would seem

front left

one of the rears, other is bent, but not quite as bad

wonder what the front right will look like :/

26th Feb

Steering wheel all wired up (Thanks Matty ) - new CAL switch on order to match the diff knob. Will also re-label in non 1980's style

Top Left = light flash
Top Right = Push to Pass / Higher boost
Lower Left = ECU Map/Calibration
Lower Right = Centre diff control

Suspension all replaced (EXE-TC off, BC ER on). I have managed to eek out about 15mm more droop so far, but will inevitably go to helper springs to keep the main springs in position. The bump stops have been 'edited' but I'll pop some small cable ties on the pistons and see what the compression travel is like. With moderate ARBs and 10/8 FR springs I hope I wont run out of travel.

Brakes bled - thanks to Stoneyginger for the help Outer left half of front NS caliper def had air in it!

KAAZ diff filled with 90LS oil ready to be run in before final oil in dropped in.

Geometry to do

27th Feb

wheel button panel trimmed down, car loaded up Go pros charged so will try and get some footage.

Got the RR print out. Just shy of 400WHP

looking fwd to being bored stiff doing this tomorrow

1st March:

I can safely say the wing creates some rear forces

Had to remove the splitter after bottoming it out under braking and bending tube, and snapping welds.... left the rear wing on. It got VERY light at the front going up over the hump on the main straight. So much so that the car was wondering all over the road :O

car ran OK, couldnt use full power as it seemed to miss a bit. Will check the logs and see if anything obvious shows. Power felt good, but only used 1st 2 boost settings, and VMAX of 122mph with quite later exit and early on the brakes. More to come there.

58s in damp with drying line on shite avons and a bit of a guess suspension setup.

Some niggly issues to check out. I think I'm paranoid but I'm sure the headers are leaking

Rear diff felt really good - loads more grip, with zero wheel lift issues at the hairpin. Will need to evaluate again in the dry
