Just got myself a new 3d tv, 3d blu ray player ect ..

Ive noticed a lot of cheap and expensive hdmi cables, do they really make a difference? worth spending the extra cash for a cable?

A dear one won't make sweet fa difference to a cheapo one, just get the cheapest one you can find. Only difference would be the build quality.

As jamie says they are digital so either work or don't. Iv got 3 in my 3dtv, one was £20 (bought with my first ps3 on release date) a £5 one and a 94p one and they all work exactly the same, all do 3d too.

It's probably not going to make a whole lot of difference unless you need a really long wire, but saying that I did get a fairly nice one for my PS3 from http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/ just because their prices are really good.

I got all mine for £1.79 each delivered off ebay. 1.5m long and gold plated. All work perfectly with no issues. Notice no difference between mine and an expensive Monster cable I switched for a laugh with my m8 to prove a point.

I bought a few Neet cables as they have lifetime warranty and have very good reviews of build quality etc.

from around £5.99 each and support 1.4 version of HDMI.

I also got a auto switch device which enables you to enter up to 3x HDMI cables into a small box but only 1 HDMI output

Only difference between a 1.3 and a 1.4 cable is the support of ethernet.
All other 1.4 features, like 3D and return sound, will easily work with an older cable.

As for quality, all tests I have read indicate that the cable quality does not come in to effect with distances below 25 metres.

I have a 50£ and a 25£ cable, that came free with other equipment. I have since bought two 1£ cables on eBay. There is NO visible or audible difference in the signal.
The 50£ cable does look and feel fantastic though, but like fuck would I pay extra for that when it's sat behind the TV.

Save money on HDMI cables and spend them on speaker cables in stead.

Even speaker cable doesn't have to be expensive.

Say 2.5mm copper stranded will be good enough for almost all setups, which can be had for about £40 per hundred metres.

I think its more piece of mind as well knowing that you have decent quality HDMI cables etc.

I needed something good quality as its getting inserted into the wall so dont want it to fail etc. £7 for a HDMI cable with lifetime warranty is superb in my opinion.....

My speaker wire was £49 for 30 metres. its 2.6mm for Ixos cable.

Looking for banana plugs next- £5 for 2 pairs......I need 3 pairs haha

That's just a failing cable, will be a connection somewhere. Not because it's a cheap one.

oh yeah, its been replaced with another cheap one. but it did only last 6 months. a £50 quid one would have to last me 2 decades to be more cost effective
