Depends, my corsa went untill 70k untill i changed the timing belt. I have a mate who had his corsa untill 89k on the factory one.
But iv had a few mates whos have gone at 40k, and I think theres one lower.
If it snaps, you'll get no warning and it will (probably) ruin your engine, depending on how fast your going.
But regardless; it will cost you a fair bit.
It cost me £70 to get mine done... £70? or paying for a new engine/car?

ahh sorry, I only thought the 1.0 12v's were chain driven. Didn't now you could get chain driven 16v's?

warren.g does a lovely job on changing the chains. . .except you are at the complete other end of the country.
They aren't a pain in the arse, if you have the chain joiner that Vauxhall have, which, means you simply join the new chain to old, and feed it through. BUT most small garages don't have this tool, so they have to take the engine apart and what not.

you shouldnt have to change the chain unless its noisey thats the idea behind them, maintainance free! if you want 2 for the sake off it you could change it, wont have to do the tensioner or w/p tho

The changing of the chain is scheduled for 100k miles.
They are known to get noisy before then. Both the 12v and 1.2 16v Corsa C's had recalls on the chains, but Corsa B's didn't. The rattliness is all to do with the tensioner. Warren G says that fitting a new tensioner solves the problem of the rattly chain BUT involves a lot more work than just putting a new chain in. Which is what I've had done.
I'm 99.9% sure other stuff doesn't need changing as well - Warren never mentioned it when doing mine

Water pump is not driven by the timing chain on these so you would not need to replace it.
