Morning all

Basically, I need some advice on Thin Clients.

At work, for the Reception area, the boss and I have mounted a flatscreen on the wall to show some slideshows on rotation to waiting visitors.

I now need to purchase (for as small as price as possible) a computer with a legal copy of Windows to run these presentations.

I was flicking through the internet as you do and found that these "thin cleints" exist. We have a Windows 2003 server at work, and some of the older PC around the place use remote desktop to work as a client server relationship (these oldcomputers run anything from win98> .

Would a cheap thin client PC be able to plug into the network and work on a RDC connection to the server to run these slideshows?

The other advantage is that they are tiny and could be hidden in the small cupboard, otherwise uve got to get a PC that isnt soo small.

Thanks.

What would you actually be showing on the monitor?

Just the slideshow mate.

What im thinking is thin client, connected to that monitor, remote desktop to our server which will be running the presentation on a loop.

They really didnt want that, did suggest and recommend that.

Its not a problem, ill just pick up a cheap semi decent machine if the thin client is a bad idea. Just if the thin client is a good idea, would make life soooo much easier

Plus because we bought loads of monitors, this was real cheap.

IMO just get a £18 dvd player from asda, and use that, dont see the point of the client idea, just creating work for no reason imo.

But the boss wants to create her own slideshows for herself, she doesnt want DVD's or anything hanging around.
