i'm literally about to buy some bilstein shocks and fit them along with my eibach 30mm springs, hopefully be fitted this week so my suspension is sorted.i will also probably be purchasing front and rear strut braces to finish it off.i'm looking at getting a new cylinder head to get skimmed, lap all the valves in etc etc as well as fitting a new cam belt at the same time so the car should (fingers crossed) be running as well as it can as standard.it has been serviced and will be again after the new head is fitted.i also have a k and n panel filter and a remus centre section, not that i'm insinuating that they will add any power!lol.what should i be looking at purchasing next to free up some extra donkey power?i've heard the standard inlet is pretty good.would an exhaust manifold be worth it?how much extra noise do they produce?also read the recent thread about injectors,is there any injector swaps that i could do?sorry for the essay.any advice appreciated!thanks.

You have three normal options.
Either:
1-Decent cam(AST2 or BP300), and a set of twin carbs
2-Decent cam, but keep the standard inlet and fit a mappable ecu system.
3-Keep the standard ecu etc, and fit the usual de-cat, 4-1 exhaust manifold, full exhaust. But the standard ecu limits your cam choice, would have to be just a "fast road" cam(270ish deg)

Both options are expensive tho, i sold my engine in bits for a total of about £500.

My old engine had twin webers, ast2 cam, 4-1 exhaust manifold etc. It sounded great and went well, but the carbs began to annoy me when starting the engine first thing in the morning

Dont belive all the bollox people will tell you about going out of tune tho, as they dont. And with the carbs setup correctly it will not "be hard to drive around town and have a lumpy idle", which is another old tale.
Mine drove fine even at 1500rpm, in 5th gear.

On the site the other day someone said about kent cams and people replyed saying what cams they had with most of them saying there totally pointless and didnt do fook all

Vaux lad how comes you went for the 4-1 manifold over the 4-2-1 ?
Maybe im totally wrong but the 4-1 works in a higher rpm range therefore better for something which is going to be rallyed all day long on a track ?
I bloody got a 4-2-1 for my c14se hope its the rite one

Yeah, 4-1 more suited to high revs.
Which is exactly why i went for it, twin carbs and high duration cams love revs
