Where is the best place to source one for a 20Gb 4th Gen iPod? I've seen a couple of sites that offer a replacement and fitting service for £90 all inclusive, but I'm just thinking that it would be cheaper to buy the HDD and fit it myself?

ebay would be the best i would have thought - though they are just 2.5" laptop hard drives in them, so maybe get a cheap one and try it?

Though this how to replace the drive -

Cheers Dom, it says on that site that the drive is 1.8" (as opposed to 2.5") - I didn't know such drives existed?

The iPod won't throw a wobbly if you put a larger capacity drive in it I take it?

There are a few people using the 60Gb drive on that link. I would imagine that when the software does the factory reset it is just partitioned and formatted to whatever is available, up to the hardware limit.

There is a comment about the 80Gb being physically thicker so I would probably think 60Gb is the largest you can go in that case.
