Does the input shaft need to come out, or not?

If so..... any ideas on where to find a long M7 bolt on the car?

take off the back mount and front gearbox one. lower the whole lot sligthly, put some bricks under the sump. loosen the 19mm bolts and slide the gearbox off

Or you can do it MattB style and cut bits off until it comes out
