Had the rocker cover off the engine today to paint up, will get pics later. Anyway, I had the car parked down the side of the house. Then after the rocker was put back on, i drove it up to the front to hoover the interior. Popped the bonnet, looked inside. All of a sudden there is a tapping, then a snap. The alternator belt had snapped, and pretty bad too:
Any ideas what could of caused this? Would it of caused any damage to the engine snapping?
Also, how much is a new belt?

nah no damage to the engine. they are about £4 from halfords i think
