My mate has got a 1.0 gls corsa B and the engine has gone one way or another and has decided to put in a 1.2 but from an older B so likely to be the 8v. Is this possible and straight forward. Will there be probs with ECU, power steering etc? Thanks in advance.

really not worth it. Its not a straightforward swap with the wiring at all!

1.0 would be an easier swap and more powerful.

less hassle with changin log book etc

ridiculous idea imo

^ ^ Totally agree with stevie, pointless conversion, nothing positive will come from dropping in a 1.2 8v spi engine

not pointless if the 1L engine has gone, if the 1.2 is realy cheap then fair enough but go for a 1.4 or 1.6 with all the parts needed to run it as they go cheap anyways (£200) roughly, should be the same job converting it and alot better. If insurance is the problem then it doesnt matter, they still see an engine change as a MOD so i got told when i asked about putting a smaller engine in a gsi. they said it would probably cost more on my premium wich is utter bollocks i think
