Decided That i am going to do myself a false floor for my corsa. Was going to make it from two peices but ive heard there it works if you do it as one peice. Anyone shed any light on this?

thanks Gavin

If your gonna do it in one piece then you need to do it in 9mm MDF as you will never bend it enough to get in without removing some trim....

I did mine in two pieces and was much less of a headache

Yer upon further consideration two peices would be alot less hassle for when i needed to get to the spare etc.

What thickness did you use for your two peice one? Im asuming you just mock up a cardboard template or something then just cut it out of mdf using a jigsaw.

Anything else i should know?

The way i did mine was to use the boot carpet to draw a carboard template and trimed the card to suit then i marked out the mdf and cut that

When it warms up a bit the plan is to make a false floor up out of birch ply (marine ply) whats a lot lighter and stronger than mdf but it twice the price

the carpet is a tad larger than the boot foor its self also you notice the carpet gos under the back seat and into the corners more its easyier to mess around with card than mdf i know that much

9-12mm mdf should do 18mm is a bit heavy tho

I have seen people use 6-8mm ply and brace the back of it with 2x1"

Nice one

Ive also seen people build a kind of enclosure into the floor to house an amp which looks quite nice. It would also be handy as it would keep it nicely out of the way.
I am assuming you use the same method except you have two layers with some sort of brace between them.
