what is the difference between reprofile cams and 'blanks'
is there any perforance differences? since the bottom lob of the cam is skimmed so the hydralic trappets have to adjust, so does this affect anything (i.e. at high revs)

blanks are always better. reprofiled cams have metal added to the lobes and then 'reprofiled' to suit.
generally cams from blanks are a better profile/design to reprofiled ones.

i thought repro's - they skim the back of the lobe so the follower takes a higher lift??...

so they could affect perfomance, thought that may be the case
so you wouldn't reconmend piper 265 repo'd cams? or should i wait for a set off blanks (can't go any more than 265 on standard pistions, safley rite?)

theres only a small amount if metal you can remove from the cam before you are going backwards. what happens at the back of the lobe isnt as important as the top.
2 ways cams improve performance : duration (how long valve is open) and lift (how far its open)
newman cams do a good 260ish profile, as do catcams. both very well priced
