is it hard to change the manifold gasket on an x14xe engine, just ordered a new gasket but it looks quite tight to get to under the bonnet.

not hard just an absolute cunt and be prepared to have to change stud bolts

not that hard.If you remove the heatshield and the round pot thing on the front of the manifold you can then remove the threaded rods with nuts on them. This will allow the manifold to drop down about 2 inches at this point enabling you to remove the gasket and fit the new one.A good idea also is put a bit of gasket sealant on the engine side of the gasket to hold it in place whilst you offer the manifold up to it and then put the far right and left threaded bolt in to align the lot up.Last of all put the rest of the bolts in and torque them up to prevent any blowing of the manifold, replace the pot thing and heat shield and jobs a good one.
