hey,

just brought my effort at sprayin my spoiler out the garage today and thought i'd have another look at it - the problem last time was that i ended up with a matt finish rather than shiny metallic like the rest of the car...

anyways, decided to run up to halfords and pick up some clear lacquer again, gave it another 3 coats of lacquer on top of the very light 2 coats i gave it originally...i understand now that the lacquer is what gives the surface the shine yea?

now that i have sprayed it how long should i leave for the lacquer to harden?

also, once the lacquer has hardened - should i get some rubbing compound and polish the hell out of it to give it the metallic shine like the rest of my car?

cheers

what paint did you use under the laquer?

Laquer takes about 48 hours to harden, then like a week to properly be solid. Depends on what brand you're using though

if it isnt greatly shiny after laquering it you wont get it much better with rubbing compounds etc

just put as much laquer as you can on, in good covering coats avoiding runs then you will get a good finish

the front splitter on my car has been hand painted with halfords paint and laquer, have a look in my garage
