How often should they be changed ?

40,000 miles or 4 years whatever comes first - according to Vauxhall.

In the real world - i never like them doing 30k to be honest and i inspect mine on a 6mthly basis to ensure everything is as it should be.

is there any way of inspecting the whole belt, easy way to crank the engine over?

Take the top half of the cambelt cover off and just crank the engine in bursts. Obviously dont let it start or you wont be able to inspect fuck all.

could also disconnect the coil/plugs to ensure there is no spark and perhaps the fuel relay so it doesnt pump any fuel in?? Though not sure if it would.
