is it hard to change the timing belt and tensioner assembaly on a 1.7d combo?

looked at the haynes but they always make it look more complicated than it is.

but i dont wanna strip it down only to end up towing it to a garage

Can't really answer the question, but my brother used to have one and never struggled working on it.
