i have a boss headunit and i THINK it has AUX in lol.... 
 
can i connect ipod to the aux in? ive seen kits but they are like £100... 
 
cant i just press play on me pod and it will come out me speakers? 
 
i have a itrip but its just not the same!!

With an Aux in i presume you'd just need a mini jack for the iPod end and then RCA to plug in to the Head Unit wouldnt you? 
 
Should be as simple as that

yes, it is that simple, although you obviously cannot control the iPod through the headunit, or keep it charged.

I used to do the same sort of thing with my portable mini disc player (when i had a cd head unit) i just ran the cable out through the footwell and sat the mini disc player in the tray when i was using it....when i wasnt using it i just tucked it under the floor mat
