What's the best method ?

a corsa, depends on the chssis type i found...

Early/ None PAS from below - won't come out the top
Later/ PAS type - out the top, saves lifting the car into the stratosphere

^ yes but you have to lift the engine into the stratosphere

take it out the bottom mate...

ye take it out the bottom.

I know on the gsi shells you cant take the battery tray off, so its harder to manuver the gearbox around it.
