just got a nano, but when i plugged it into the pc, it froze and it wont get off the menu screen, is there anyway of resetting it

I presume that you installed itunes and the ipod drivers that came with it first?

hold the menu button and the center button together and it resets itself i had the same problem with mine aswel

Well the expensive ones are  
 
Eg. 
 
£199.99 for a 20gb Zen Micro whick looks crap & feels tacky. Basic LCD screen 
 
£219 for a 30gb I-Pod video. Feels & looks good, good software for updating etc. Plays video's & also can view pics on its high res colour screen. 
 
 
Shuffle's are a rip off though

What mp3 player, with the same capacity and a colour screen would you buy instead of a nano? 
I don't like ipods btw but its a good deal and a nice little player.
