I am having so much trouble with them!!!
I have the latest software and it will never recognise the ipod! Will sometimes after a few mins say that the ipod needs to be re-formatted so you click ok and it opens the ipod updater program but that just freezes!!!
And it says there are other programs using the ipod when you try and open the ipod updater by itself!!!
Any tips or suggestions?

on a more serious note....try a different usb port on ur machine, a friend had a problem like this and that sorted it. the connection was iffy

sounds to me like you have usb 1.0/1.1?
you need a usb 2.0 card

girl at work bought a mini ipod from the states, she went upto the shop at regents street i think booked an appointment at the tech place and got a free one - had to give the old one back cos it was fooked, wouldnt sync or recognise was attached to PC etc
