ok people i really need to upgrade my Alt because im running a spilt charged system and i need to make sure the rear battery stayeds charged up, i have allready killed an optima yellow top by not spilt charging and i can afford to ruin another, so what are my options.....i heard that you can uprate the standard 55a alt for bigger ones from a frontera or a vecy diesel... im looking for at least 100ah ...if anyone has got anyideas where i can get one from/also whichengine there off asap i would be greatful...

have you got an alterantor pace near to you? you can prob get your own rewound, they wou;d be the best guys to speak to tho

i did think that , but if i can buy an uprated one off a frontera it may be a straight swap

i can remember reading somewhere that the corsa's with air con have a 70A one, don't know whether its true or not, but could be something to investigate.....

thats right, the 70 ah is a straight swap, could be an option but im really after 100ah give or tkae as im running a larger 2000rms amp foe spl competitions

i had mine running the ice in the back which wasnt spilt charged, as i hammer the ice the battery has died completely and ive put it down to the alt

i am goin to be having this problem as i am going to b runnin 2000Wrms @ 1ohm bass junkies in birmingham reakon i would need new alternator and 2 yellow tops???

have a look what alt your running now.... ive been running the yellow top with out the split charge in for a while and ive killed it for that reason,
you dont need 2 yellow tops chap 1 decent normal battery up front with an up rated alt would be fine with no probs at all, my current alt is 55ah ....100ah would be for than enough i would of thought to charge both batterys,

do you run your ice with the engine running? or with the engine not running?
as if its not running the only difference a bigger altenator will make is it will charge the battery back up quicker

ifor the spl comps, the engine is off. hence why i want to spilt charge, the reason why i want to use a yellow top is becasue i need a higher floating voltage so my amp runs better whilst off charge.... the current alt is not going to be able to charge and keep the battery in a fit way, as i do give it some stick and i dont really want to be messing around every weekend getting the charger out and re topping it back up

yes you can use the diesal one off the frontera i beleive but i want some one to confirm this with out me purchasing one and finding out its the wrong one
