Hello all
First post so please be kind.
I have inherited a '97 1.4 16v sport with 54k on the clock and will be using it as a winter runaround.
A while ago the cambelt went and the head was rebuilt. However, something wasn't done right as the compression is low in a cylinder - did the test but can't remember which cylinder. It improved when I put a tbs oil in via the spark plug hole. The engine doesn't smoke so I assume it is a piston which got slightly bent= poston wear, when the cambelt went???
Anyway, I've been reading some threads about the 1.6 and was wondering if it will be better to swap to a x16xe with ecu. Is this a difficult job? - looks a tad crowded under the bonnet! Are there many of these available?
Also is the suspension normally so wobbly? It doesn't feel much like a 'sport' tbh.
Thanks in advance
Nick
