are you sure mate?

surely then the relay wont work?

i thought i had to keep all the amps that are powered there, earthed there aswell. But that wouldnt matter if this batt was earthed?

What planet are you on? If you did not earth the second battery, it would do nothing, there would be no circuit.

Its the ignition live that makes the connection between the two batteries active

Earth....

I thought as much, as Richie posted up the circuit with the relay in it before

But when i went to earth the batt yesday, my dad interferred and got me all confused. Usually he knows about that type of stuff, which is why i wanted to double check again.

Tell ur dad he's nuts

If you dont earth the 2nd battery, it wont be part of the circuit at all.

thats what i said, you must complete circuit.
But he said the 2nd battery was to remain 'seperate' from the car. Meaning that everything running off of that battery should be earthed ONLY at that battery.

i wont tell my dads he's nuts, ill just ignore him, and tell him YOU called him nuts.

what batterys are you running?

if there just 2 standard batteries, why dont you use 1 Yellow top battery which is 100 percent better and the floating voltage would be higher
