The mathmatical way;
1) When the light goes on, see how many miles you get out of the tank before the car conks out.
2) Fill the tank with 1 litre of fuel and again see how long it takes to conk out.
3)Compare the two, to see how much the tank will read (eg if the car stops 15miles after the light comes on and 5miles on 1litre of fuel, then you know it holds 3litres of fuel).
Just don't try this on a remote country lane in the middle of nowhere LOL

well with a petrol car thats all well and good but with a diesel u cant just pump the fuel back through like u can with a petrol can u gotta blead the system

or just fill it up and deduct whats you put in from fuel tank capacity!! + couple of litres for whats in the filler pipe

just wondering so i know how many miles i had left in before it ran out cause i was trying to see howmany miles i could get out of a tank full

do it from the petrol light then rather then letting ur engine run out of fuel
