any way a pipe goes from it an into the engine bay it looks like a vacuum pipe where does it connect to an what does it do

yes, its the charcoal canister, absorbs fuel vapours from the tank, and it is purged on full throttle into the inlet manifold

yep thats it. Mine pissed me off when i fiitted new side repeaters as it was in the way
